Since EA has abandoned the game, and no longer offers it for sale on Steam or Origin, or other locations, it is safe to say it is 100% abandoned by them. However, the community not one to be killed for no reason, has risen from the ashes like a phoenix and a friend of mine has made a stand alone version of BF2 that is in HD, with post processing shaders and other enhancements like HD weapons models. I highly suggest you pick this version up to play the mod with.
